1 Peter 5

Serve God Willingly

1 aTherefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your bfellow elder and cwitness of the sufferings of Christ, and a dpartaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2shepherd ethe flock of God among you, exercising oversight fnot under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and gnot for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3nor yet as hlording it over

5 pYou younger men, likewise, qbe subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with rhumility toward one another, for s God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

6Therefore thumble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7casting all your uanxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 vBe of sober spirit, wbe on the alert. Your adversary, xthe devil, prowls around like a roaring ylion, seeking someone to devour. 9
Lit whom resist

aaBut resist him, abfirm in your faith, knowing that acthe same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your

10After you have suffered aefor a little while, the afGod of all grace, who agcalled you to His aheternal glory in Christ, will Himself aiperfect, ajconfirm, strengthen and establish you. 11 akTo Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.
